Deck Restoration

This Airbnd rental had a back and side deck that needed some tlc. The back deck was in pretty good shape. It had a couple rotten deck boards that needed to be replaced, and the deck needed to be restained, but that was all. The side deck was in marginal condition. There was enough rotten wood that a complete teardown and replacement could be justified, but the client couldn't afford that. It was decided that any wood that would jeopardize safety would be replaced.  The steps were replaced, a rotten floor joist was replaced, and all rotten deck boards were replaced.

On both decks, only the decking needed to be restained, but because the client didn't know the original deck stain color it would be necessary to either restain both the railings and the decking for a full color match, or to stain only the decking with a suitably contrasting color. The second option was chosen for a two tone look.

Both decks were thoroughly cleaned with a pressure washer prior to removal of rotten wood.
